Hi, I’m Nicole Buckland
I'm an Occupational Therapist, Artist, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
I've spent the last ten years working closely with people navigating complex mental health conditions, neurodivergence, and the everyday challenges that can make life feel hard to move through.
My background spans mental health rehabilitation and recovery, and I've worked across a range of settings as an OT, support worker, and educator. The conditions I have the most experience with include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, and autism.
Somatic Experiencing® is a body-based approach to healing that works with your nervous system rather than against it , helping you gently process stress, trauma, and overwhelm at a pace that feels safe. It sits at the heart of how I work, alongside occupational therapy, because I believe real change happens when we include the whole person: mind, body, and lived experience.
My studio space, The Museum of Intrepid Exploration in Brookvale, is where I run art-based sessions and creative practice is something I weave into my work more broadly, because self-expression can open doors that talking alone sometimes can't.
What ties all of this together is a genuine belief that you are the expert on your own life. My job is to listen, to understand what's getting in the way, and to be there with you as we figure out a path through it.
